Continuing Education for Nurses and Social Workers

GOAL
To educate oncology nurses and social workers about information to provide to patients to make informed treatment decisions.

OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the information patients need to make informed treatment decisions
  • Describe to patients how their diagnosis dictates the goals of treatment
  • Explain to patients what to take into consideration when reviewing options for standard treatment and clinical trials
  • Explain the importance of patient-provider communication

TARGET AUDIENCE
Oncology nurses and social workers involved in the treatment of patients with blood cancers.

CERTIFICATION
Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under provider number CEP 5832 to award 1.0 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), provider number 1105, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org Approved Continuing Education Program (ACE). Approval Period: December 2011 – December 2014. LLS maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Social workers will receive 1.0 CE clinical clock hours.

Upon completion of this program and submission of the CE activity evaluation, a certificate of completion will be issued to you via email or US mail within 30 days.
